MUSEUM and gallery collections stimulate, challenge and inspire people. The Collections for All campaign, led by MDA with a network of partners, aims to help museums unlock the power of ther collections. We want to, and indeed must, do even more to engage people from diverse walks of life. The premise of the campaign is simple. Collections make museums and galleries uniue, but in themselves they may not speak clearly to people. The more we know about our collections, and the better their condition, the easier it is for us to share them, and the stories and knowledge that come from them, with the wider public. An advocacy leaflet setting out the key aims of the campaign is [available for download here] COLLECTIONS FOR ALL is a national campaign to raise the profile of collections and the knowledge they contain. COLLECTIONS FOR ALL will increase awareness beyond the museum world of the unique value of collections as intellectual resources. COLLECTIONS FOR ALL will set out knowledge management priorities for the next five years, as called for the in the Museums Association's inquiry Collections for the Future. COLLECTIONS FOR ALL will inform the work of the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) in developing museums as accessible, learning institutions. COLLECTIONS FOR ALL is a investigating the social, economic, professional and intellectual impact that stems from knowledge management, to support large-scale documentation funding applications. COLLECTIONS FOR ALL will help raise professional standards across museums and galleries and will help disseminate models of good practice. The Collections for All campaign is led by MDA in partnership with the South East Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (SEMLAC). The Campaign is supported by a range of partners including the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA), National Museum Directors Conference, Institute of COnservation and others.
